Baskin Robbins Launches “Nagin Nut Crunch”

Looking to capitalize on Ray Nagin’s reference to New Orleans as a “chocolate city,” Baskin Robbins is launching a new flavor called “Nagin Nut Crunch,” which will be available in stores next week.
“Baskin Robbins likes to keep its flavors current,” said Baskin Robbins spokesperson Jill Saturnia. “And Mr. Nagin’s reference to New Orleans as a “chocolate city” got our new product developers working. In our first brainstorming meetings we felt that chocolate alone wouldn’t capture the true essence of New Orleans and all the city has been through. Then we listened to Ray Nagin say that God is sending hurricanes to punish the U.S. for our involvement in Iraq, and that’s when ‘Nagin Nut Crunch’ came to us. I mean, is this guy a few fries short of a Happy Meal, or what?”
The ice-cream is a blend of dark chocolate and marshmallow fluff with one large, unshelled Black Walnut, called the Nutty Mayor, buried somewhere in the ice cream.
“We think families will have great fun trying to find the Nutty Mayor in every container.”
Baskin Robbins is so pleased with the early feedback on Nagin Nut Crunch that they plan an extended line of products based on the Hurricane Katrina experience, including Great Job Brownie Sundae, Looters and Shooters Jubilee, and AWOL Cop Cobbler.
